Weve been working on the new DataFlex TechStack for quite some time. Now weve reached an exciting milestone: the first Technology Preview is ready for you to explore!
TechStack will become a major part of DataFlex 2027 and brings a new technology foundation to DataFlex. But instead of waiting until everything is finished, we want to bring you into the development process much earlier.
Really early.
Normally, you know what to expect from a DataFlex release: Alpha, Beta, Release Candidate and then the final release. Were doing things differently with TechStack.
Todays release is the first in a series of Technology Previews. From here, we are aiming for a new update every month, gradually adding more of the technology we are building for TechStack. That means this first preview is early. Its not a Beta and definitely not something to start using in production. Its something to explore, experiment with and give us feedback on.
And thats exactly the point.
We want to develop TechStack together with the DataFlex community.
Instead of showing you the finished result at the end, we are opening up the development process. You can try new functionality as it becomes available, see how the technology evolves and tell our R&D team what you think along the way.
Found something that doesnt work as expected? Tell us. Have a question about why something works the way it does? Ask. Tried something interesting? We want to hear about that too.
Youre not just getting an early preview. Youre getting a chance to help shape what comes next.
The TechStack online documentation is your starting point. It contains the latest Technology Preview, installation and getting-started guides, technical information and release notes. As new functionality arrives, this is where you will find it.
The DataFlex Forum is where the conversation happens. Ask questions, share what youve tried and, most importantly, give our R&D team your feedback.
And theres another important part of the program: livestreams with our R&D team.
Were kicking things off with two livestreams hosted by DataFlex R&D developers Bram and Harm.
Cant make it to the livestream? No worries, the content will always stay available on the DataFlex-dev YouTube Channel. If you have any questions you can always share them on the forum, or discuss them in the next livestream.
As TechStack grows, we are planning monthly livestreams to show you whats new, explain what were working on and give you another opportunity to talk directly to the people building it.
